Stability Index#

Understanding and improving sleep quality is essential for overall well-being, and the Sleep Stability Index plays a critical role in this endeavor. This index evaluates the stability of your sleep, considering factors like body movements and micro-awakenings during the night.

Norepinephrine and Micro-Awakenings#

Norepinephrine, a key neurotransmitter in the body's stress response, varies during sleep. These variations can lead to micro-awakenings - brief moments of wakefulness lasting about 5 to 10 seconds. While they are too short to significantly disrupt sleep, frequent micro-awakenings can contribute to daytime drowsiness and a general sense of not being well-rested.

Scoring Sleep Stability#

The Sleep Stability Score is derived from the frequency of body movements and micro-awakenings experienced during sleep. The maximum score for sleep stability is 15, indicating minimal sleep disturbances. A higher frequency of disturbances results in a lower score, directly reflecting the restfulness of the sleep.

The Importance of the Index#

Monitoring your Sleep Stability Index is key to addressing sleep-related concerns. It not only provides insight into the quality of your sleep but can also signal underlying health conditions affecting rest. Keeping an eye on this index can lead to better, more restorative sleep and, consequently, improved health and wellness.
